Die cutting foam sheet

Die cutting is the technique of stamping foam parts using steel ruled tools or “dies” on a machine called a punch press. Any two dimensional shape can be configured and cut on several types of punch presses.

Rotary die cutting, in which a sheet of material is fed into a station, where a rotary tool moving at the same speed cuts or perforates it into the desired shape. Rotary die cutting is an efficient way to quickly produce gaskets and similar components. Steel rule die cutting, in which a custom steel tool (die) is created to punch out specific shapes on a material of your choice. Steel rule die cutting is an excellent option for mass producing custom die cut components on a budget. We custom die cut foam and rubber components for a wide variety of industries and applications. Waterjet Cutting Difficult cutting of thick or heat sensitive materials is made easy with our waterjet cutter. Unlike laser, waterjet can cut virtually any material regardless of its surface quality.

Accu-Shape Die Cutting utilizes a wide variety of equipment to process foam allowing for many different forms to be cut. Foam sheets and roles are the most common items cut with steel rule dies and benefit from the accuracy of die cutting. Plastifoam offers computerized foam die cutting services for packaging and shipping applications using varying densities and foam colors. We work with Polyethylene (PE), Polyurethane (PU), and Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam, custom die cut in all shapes and sizes. In simplest terms, our die cutter operates like a large-scale cookie cutter, great for cutting exact shapes out of foam. Dies, also known as plates, are made by setting thin, finely serrated blades into wood to create a cutting pattern. Sheets of foam are placed over the plates and compressed by up to 80 tons of pressure.
