I am having problems getting up and running with an embedded i210 (flash-less) based design on an ARM platform under Linux. The main problem is that there is not enough information in the i210 datasheet to indicate exactly what minimum amount of iNVM data needs to be programmed to get the device to work with the igb driver. Martin's solutions works fine - just make sure you install the back port kernel as the stable kernel does not support the Intel I210 NICs: apt-get -t wheezy-backports install linux-image-amd64 this might take some time though.
